Hope you all have been well, I know its been a while but your girl was caught up in this thing called life and all things adulting. The past 3 months have been the most exhausting and draining for me yet very exciting and overwhelming and I’m thankful for it all.
As we are in the month where the biggest shopping sales of year happen, today I want to share with you four tips to shop on sale so that when the sales begin, you can shop comfortably like a pro..
Whenever you hear of sales, do you panic so much you just don’t know where to start? Here are a few steps to follow while shopping on sale;
• Have in mind what you really want and have a targeted approach rather than wandering aimlessly around and ending up impulse buying for the sake of it.
•Be disciplined and don’t overspend, if you really don’t love something and did not plan for its purchase, don’t buy it.
•Don’t be swayed by the low price , only buy what you could have possibly bought in its actual price. Do not buy what you wouldn’t have bought in its original price.
•Go with a list of the things you need in mind, so you don’t panic buy. That way it makes the purchase process easier for you and you get to buy everything that you had planned for and needed.
Approaching sale shopping in a smart way means that you’ll get the most out of your money, walk away with great items and avoid any post-purchase feelings of regret. It all begins with preparation, you need to know your current wardrobe inside out and create a list of what you wear often, what you don’t have but would like, and the items you really don’t need another version of.
Creating a list that you can refer to on the day will help keep you focused on the task in hand. Concentrate on staples that need replacing as well as classic pieces that won’t date and quality fabrics that will stand the test of time. Beautifully cut dresses, trousers, blouses and blazers. If sticking solely to the classics feels a little too sensible, it’s a good idea to update existing outfits for the trends that you like from the new season. The best strategy is to think about the timeless investment pieces that you can wear in lots of different ways.
I always find the best things in sale previews. The key is to get on the mailing list of your favorite boutiques and online stores so that you receive their early VIP preview email. Also, have a few personal shoppers at your favorite stores or a personal shopper that could get you items from your favorite stores, who will know what you’ve had your eyes on all the time. I am always on the mailing list of all my favorite stores starting with ZARA, and a week or two before I send my shopper images of all the items that I’ve got my eyes on and aiming to purchase during the sales. For instance I already have my list of all the items I will be getting on Black Friday sales from different stores and every item is listed with specifics (all the details from size, color, material etc.)
The best tactic is to make a plan and stick to it. Never buy on a whim or impulse because those items tend to sit in your wardrobe unworn. And there’s a reason why you might see the same product across several retailers with a higher per cent discount, it means that it didn’t sell well, be it an unflattering fit or bad fabric.
Also, try your best to stick to classics. Don’t buy statement pieces during sales because they will have been worn by so many people in the industry already and might not really stand the test of time.
See below some of the times that I have got on my sales shopping list.
1. Zara printed Co-ord set
2. Zara moc croc loafers with buckle
3. H&M checkered double breasted blazer
4. Zara sash belt, not sure I’ll get one that actually fits me tho..
5. Misguided white croc skin barely there heeled sandals.
6. Charles & Keith sculptural leather mules, I’m currently undecided, dunno which color to go with of the two but I also, think brown would be better..
And, of course a few skin care products from Pixi, Kiehl’s and Peterthomasroth because I’m updating my skin care regimen and I’m looking forward to good skin days in 2020.
Thanks for stopping by,
